What we are building
OKLCH Palette Lab is a browser-local workbench for turning a color into a reviewable palette and portable code. It is maintained for designers and developers who want the gamut boundary, contrast pair and export format to remain visible.
Technical method
The color engine uses Culori for parsing, conversion, gamut handling and WCAG ratios. APCA is calculated with the reference apca-w3 package and labeled as a preview. Image extraction uses a bounded canvas and Oklab k-means in the browser.
The implementation follows the vocabulary and behavior described by CSS Color 4, WCAG 2.2, Tailwind CSS and the DTCG 2025.10 color module. Each guide links to its relevant primary sources.
Research method
Product comparisons are based on direct task-based use at desktop and mobile widths. They are dated snapshots, not permanent rankings. Search-intent research is used to decide which real questions deserve a dedicated guide; it does not replace technical sources.
Verification
Deterministic tests cover parsing, ramps, gamut mapping, contrast, harmonies, exports and image clustering. Production releases are also checked in a real browser for keyboard access, console errors, responsive overflow, canonical redirects and crawl assets.
